Well, I have been planning this post for around two months now.Loads of half written drafts stand testimony to this. But now that the day is finally here, I dont know what to say. What do I write about one whole year that has passed by.

Maybe , blogging , to me is similar to music.By music, I mean singing. You enjoy doing it, you love to express yourself, and you love the fact that you have an audience.Right from the word go,I knew blogging was there to stay with me.It wasnt like one of those short-lived fads.

Which reminds me, to say something about the word go itself. It was a sunny bangalore afternoon. The group piled on to an auto, to go to our favorite Jayanagar "Corner House" haunt, when one of us casually mentioned a a fellow bitsian's blog url.PS in itself, was seldom challenging, and even after those two hour lunch breaks, three coffee breaks, and God knows how many IIM-B breaks, you still found plenty of time at hand. Not wanting to "waste" anymore time,I went to his site, and thats when the blogger bug bit me.

My initial experiences with writing, were very shaky , and seldom cohesive. It was just years since I had produced a decent article, and lets just say , my writing was rusty at best. Reading known people's blogs, piqued my curiosity and it was nice knowing what was happening in their lives.I kept coming back for more. Many, many a time, when I was down, or confused or sad, I would just go bloghopping, and find someone else, articulately expressing and mirroring my feelings.Suddenly the blogworld was my comfort zone.

As I read more, I also started developing a particular "mode" of writing. For instance, I would never write about politics, or economics or wireless adhoc networks. My style, would be decidedly personal. As more poeple started visiting the site, the topics, style and presentation changed.Well ,I dont really keep in mind who reads the site when I write, but also , if I were to go into detail about Dharmavathi, the 59th Melakartha and its swaras Sa Ri2 Ga2 Ma2 Pa Da2 Ni3 Sa and how Madhuvanthi is a Janya of Dharmavathi , well , you get the idea.

Shifting to a new country, also meant I would have a lot of new experiences and views to write about. And, reading about experiences of batchmate bloggers, made life a lot more easy.It was through Orkut, that I also found, that there were quite a few BITSian bloggers. Thus was concieved the idea to bring together all of us under one roof, and this, happened.Life has been very good to me since then. I really love to write, and I am grateful to those people who visit this site and read whatever I write. Thanks a lot people.Yes, there are these days when I am pissed at the whole world, and wished I could go anonymous and swear all I want, but I know I would never write if there was no one to read. You guys rock my world !!!!

It has been a great year of blogging.Hope to have many more to come.

HAPPY BLOGGING BIRTHDAY TO ME !!!!!!!
I have so, many things to do..

Oops, Boss wants the db complete by today..

Advisor wants the ppt ready by today....

Aw AW !! I absolutely have to do laundry today..

Oops!! It is my cooking turn today...

And then it happened.Through the earphones flowed lilting Anandhabhairavi- "Ksheera saaga vihara..."In an auto response, fingers move out of the keyboard, and started tapping "Kanda chapu" rythmically.I close my eyes and take in all the Anandhabairavi I possibly can. I picture the song as a mom, slowly caressing the child first ,and then rocking it with rythmic motions as the child trustingly, relaxes in her arms. And the way the notes slowly, intoxicatingly fill my senses- it is an incredible high, that I so bad at explaining. No matter how many times I ve sung this, or heard it - this song is very, very evocative - in a mysterious, haunting elusive kind of way.

And then the music stopped.Suddenly , and without warning , i was thrown back to the world of db and Markovian queues :(

It is soo traumatic you have no idea !!!
Cincinnati , Ohio :

Monday through Thursday : Warm and sunny, sweaty.

Friday : Severe rains , thunder and lightning.

Saturday : Light snow, cold winds !!!!

Bloody !! And they call ME unpredictable !!!!

Anyways , the week so far :

Friday night :

A cold, dark room, occasionally lit up in brilliant white by the lightning outside.Roaring thunder broke the silence of the night.Snuggled up in a comforter - a laptop, earphones, a mug of cold chocolate and microwaved ramen noodles giving me company as I watched "Forrest Gump".

Life doesnt get better than this believe me!!!
Life is soo beautiful!!!

Saturday afternoon :Still inside the comforter, too lazy to go and get breakfast or lunch or whatever.. This time its "Vanilla Sky".

Saturday Evening :WTF !!! I have shitloads to do!!!

Later saturday evening :Ok, maybe I should check my yahoo, gmail, snailmail, whatever mail...

10 mins later :Ok now focus ..."Markovian Queues in Equilibrium".. What ? This comp doesnt have an equation editor!!!

Later : Its been ages since I went to Subway.Yeah, Jimmy Johns is a million times better, but too lazy to walk up to it.

Later :Hmm, Its been long since I blogged.I really should break this dry spell.

Much Later :"Roja" DVD checked out from Langsam.Hmm, heavenly music... Maybe I ll just check out that Hidumba temple scene again.. Well, maybe I ll watch the whole movie.. ..

Will be back with more !!!

What is your happy place?

So everyone has this happy place.Happy place, is the first place that comes to your mind, when you close your eyes. This is the place , in the whole world where you can picturize yourself, relaxed, at home with yourself, contented, and relaxed.

PHOEBE: ( in a soothing voice) Relax every muscle in your body. Listen to the plinky-plunky music. Okay, now close you eyes, and think of a happy place. Okay, tell me your happy place.

MONICA: Richard's living room, drinking wine.

PHOEBE: All right. No, no, no, not a Richard thing, just put down the glass. And get out!

MONICA: I'm sorry, but that's my happy place.

PHOEBE: Well, okay, fine, use my happy place. Okay, I'm just gonna, I have to ask that you don't move anything.

MONICA: All right, I'll try not to.

PHOEBE: Okay, all right, so, your in a meadow, millions of stars in the sky....

MONICA: Do you think breaking up with him was a huge mistake?

PHOEBE: All right, there are no questions in the happy place. Okay, just, the warm breeze, and the moonlight flowing through the trees....

MONICA: I'll bet he's totally over me, I'll bet he's fine.

PHOEBE: All right, betting and wagering of any kind, are, I'm sure, not permitted in the happy place. Okay. Just-just, you know, the-the lovely waterfalls, and the, the trickling fountains. And the-the calming sounds of the babbling brook....

MONICA: Okay, this isn't working. I'm still awake and now I have to pee.

I guess I have two happy places. The second one, is a clear blue evening, around 6.I stand just outside my house in the Ashram, and look out to the meadows.Atop the small hillock, there are remains of what was once a small temple. The sparse vegetation gives away to a meandering brook at the distance.Thick vegetation beyond the brook is shrouded in mystery.

The first one, surprises me.Pleasantly.

What is your happy place ?
Here is the article I co-authored, in print.

http://sandpaper.bitsaa.org/09_general/bloggermania.htm
Its Monday morning.

And the interminable wait begins.
What is the truth ?

I mean, I suddenly wake up Sunday morning, and I think..What happened yesterday night?

I mean, was I hallucinating? Or did it really happen?

If I was dreaming, then .. Damn me !!

If it really happened , then.. WHAT was I thinking ??
Satutory Warning : This is about a person who exists in the real world.Any references to the words"Coercion","Chipotle" and "Treat"are purely coincidental and does not mean what you think it means.

Hmm,If you are meeting him for the first time, you will think he is 15.But once you get to know him, things will change. You will think he is all of two years old(And G , thats NOT a compliment!!).That being said,he took my cherished position.(Well, I am so used to being the youngest in any group of people, but he snatched it away from me in the "Kuttisuvars").

Its been around seven months since we all landed inthe US of A.Not for G.He talks and walks like he owns the place, with an accent that he thinks puts even the ABCD chicks he tries to "correct" to shame.

Hmm,you would think a normal Desi veggie guy can eat pretty much anything veggie available in the US.Our guy cant eat tomato, onions, spicy food, tea or coffee.Hmm, and just when you sympathetically offer him the option of cereals, surprise ! seems like acid reflux is not the end of his woes-lactose intolerance!!!Cut to reality and u can see this guy peacefully sitting in Thai Express hogging away a Thai fried rice - spice levels of 5/6 :))And the next thing you know "kiddo"'s grandmom is flown all the way from India to take care of him!!

Hmm, so anywayz, calls himself a good "nanban".Picture this.

"Sang,i ll surely come to Deepotsav, after all you are performing"

Later:

"Hey, so how was it?"
"How was what"
"The performance , stupid"
"I dont know.. I was outside.. wow that hot chick, she just stepped out,and I couldnt take my eyes off her..Hey.. btw, you know her right.. then what are u waiting for? wherez my intro"

Flashback :
(BITS,Pilani : "kats, mar,so your coming to TAP tommorow right?Cmon guyz, I am singing"

"What? we cant sit through some boring carnatic concert just because you are in it.Besides, its a sunday morning 9 o clock, I have a wing cricket match"

"Sang, I have this lab work to complete, I really wish I could come though"

"Well, too bad then,I ll tell DR I wont be inviting anyone then"

"What?DR is in this too?? To hell with lab work and cricket matches,we are in !!")
End of Flashback.

Cut to the present :

"Hey you said you were in Dyer hall"
"Yup, my office is right behind the photocopy shop-the one with all those college teams banners stuck on the walls"
"Alright then, I ll drop by and say Hi"
"Ok cool"
"Hey did you say K(my fellow GA) was going to be in today??"

Oh,or this:

Midnight 2:30 My phone rings. My roomie tosses.I make a dash for thephone.
"Hey, were you sleeping?"
" WHAT??"
"Oh,so you were sleeping is it?"
"Yes you moron"
"And I woke you up??"
"Yeah..."
"Hey, are you fully awake??"
"Hmm.. yeah "
"Ok, bye then, my job is done then.I am switching off my phone.Talk to you later.Good night!!"

Hmm,if you would think that having someone in UC who lived half a street and 2 apartments from YOU in Trichy would be fun get this.

In a gang:"Sang, who was your first crush"
"Hey, my first real life crush was this greeting shop guy, across the street you know"

*loud guffaws*

"Hey, his name is ~A right? He was my neighbour.. he studied in.. his sister is now in... ..bla bla blaa. . his mail id is bla bla .. guess who will look like a fool when I tell him all about what u did .."

Or this :

" Yeah, so anyway, that couZ I dont like, came online today, and I escaped to invisible mode you know"

"What? you did this to V, my school senior? How cheap of you sang! Well, anyway now he is in bla bla right? How is his bro doing? Its been a long time you know.Is he back from the trip yet?"

Hmm, the thought that anyone can give Mr.Fitting Kumar himself a run for his money, is unimaginable right? Our Mr.G does a very good job of it.Ask him how was the game today, and he will launch into a tirade and UC "out of the world"defence ploy, even when the Bearcats were ambushed by Kentucky.

Ok now, have I told you guys about the "Can I borrow a quarter" story?Or the football story? Oh well, I am hungry now.So someother time.As I said,Any references to the words"Coercion","Chipotle" and "Treat"are purely coincidental and does not mean what you think it means.
